Batman-Arkham-Origins-Initiation-DLC-Concept-Art-shows-Bruce-Wayne-in-Asia

Normally I would wait till I finished the DLC to write about it. However considering I made it all the way to the end of this one..but didn’t finish the very very very last part of it “DAMN 5 RETRY LIMIT!!”. I figure why not write about what I know and YES I WILL FINISH THIS TODAY!!

So this DLC for Batman Arkham Origins dives into the past for Bruce Wayne “BATMAN DUH!”. It is based around his training as a younger man trying to learn to fight. Clearly entering this part of his life he has an idea on how to be Batman but discovers that with training from this North Korea band of Ninjas he can learn more about himself.

Now nothing about this DLC is EASY. Honestly it’s ruff and REALLY HARD to get past but so gratifying that I can’t even put it into words. Playing the DLC doesn’t change much about the controls. Some of it even takes away elements to challenge you more but it’s really really ruff!! Over all the price is cheap.. it’s very well designed and FUN! Honestly … I wish it had more too it but for the price YOU CAN NOT COMPLAIN!

How Do I not write about this? As a Mortal Kombat Fan I would be insane not to write about all the things presented in this one Trailer. From Sub-zero outfit “as shown in the comic book” and the 5 new characters ” Also some revealed in the comic”. It’s like Christmas day for a fan! Lots of hidden stuff in this video which included a cameo of dead Sindel, Kitana, and living Rain kicking Kotal off a rooftop. It’s all just 46 days away!! I CAN’T EXPRESS HOW EXCITED I AM!!

mortal-kombat-x

So I clearly didn’t finish any games this week..and trust me I tried! Still have Skylanders, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and a couple more. So I will be getting back to that SOON! However something interesting happened this week in that the spec for Mortal Kombat X recently released!

Now with that in mind I had a price tag I wanted to add to this. I was going to go one of two ways!

PC VS PS4

pccase

Now I knew that the PC was going to cost me probably a little more to build. I had plans to do that but the problem I ran into was a big one. To begin with just the 3 parts.. Motherboard, CPU, and Graphics card alone.. would cost me the insane price of about 484.00 dollars. (Keep in mind I AM BUILDING THIS MYSELF) so this would not include the price of the case, ram, power supply and so on. Now one of the plus points is that the PC will likely last me for the rest of my life “pending I don’t ruin it with whatever software problems I have”. (On a side note I still have a laptop I want to get fixed)

VS

ps4

THE PS4 which comes with everything (including a 500GB). Maybe a game and two controller to range 399 – 450 $.  Now my assumption is that it’s not going to look as graphically as the PC version will look. Clearly the Modifications can’t be done on a PS4 but it will run without issues. Should run very SMOOTH and really will be about as pleasing to me as it can be.

The debate came and ended quickly because I already made the plan to spend less than 500 on everything  (Including the game). Originally I wanted less than 400 but… really we will have to wait and see how much I actually spend..(I will update).. Regardless it’s insane the difference..

Just for kicks.. here is the Reptile trailer.. (he’s meh fav and I can’t wait to play him again soon!)

I must have watched it at least 100x already.. I CAN’T WAIT!!!

skylanderswapforce

Skylanders Swap Force was the first game I received on my Wiiu because it came with the system. That was the bundle I purchased because I had played and finished Skylanders and Skylanders Giants. It even became a sort of ritual for me and my girlfriend to play and finish each of these games in December. Last month was really busy with work and what not.. so We managed to pull this game off yesterday in the span of 13 hours. WAS IT WORTH IT? LET’S FIND OUT!

skylanders_collection_and_something_doesn_t_belong_by_kainless-d8cz5di

To begin with like the previous games you “the player” are expected to expand your collection of figures to get further in the game. While the plays you had for the previous games work on this one.. they added the Swap Force Characters in this iteration. Meaning only if you have Swap Force characters can you get to particular BONUS parts of the game. Really they don’t effect the games main line but they do add to the hours upon hours of game play that this game has. Really the foundation that was built on skylanders 1 and 2 keep and stay faithful in this version of the game. Your still given elements to open portals to get you items that upgrade your armor health and so on. Each stage follows suit and really if you played the other two you already know how to play this one so really nothing new is to be learned short the mechanics of new characters and of course following the story line which is probably the best I have seen so far.

portalsf

This game I should also add does come with a “required” new portal. I am guessing it had to be upgraded to provide a platform for the new Swap Force team. This team is comprised of only a few new characters but they can interchange to make different characters. So if you have two swap force characters you can mix them to make 4 new characters. It’s all easily done and pretty fun to do but it isn’t REQUIRED. Just another fun part of playing the game and a new aspect to dive into.

screenskylanderssf

The game itself is beautiful. This being the third in the series the graphics you can tell have been slightly upgraded. Sound is epic and really the story is driving to get you from place to place. You will find a great innocent humor in the series that continues to charm the hell out of players who enjoy it. I can see why it has become so popular considering it’s really just a ton of fun to play and with each game in the series you want to learn more about the universe it’s building. It’s fun and simple to say the least. Sort of like Gaunlet “of my day” and over all a good game to play with really ANYONE. This particular game however I will say is the LONGEST in the series so far. With Trap Team already in my hands I expect it to be longer than Swap force which really took us a matter of 13 hours STRAIGHT.. to finish.. This is more than enough time to play any video game but yea.. the amount of content involved in the game is just OVERWHELMING and without question is worth every penny spent! For whatever the price if you are looking for a game to play with anyone .. I HIGHLY Suggest playing anyone of the skylander games!

This year could only come up with 5… so instead of 10 .. HERE are my top 5!

5. Bayonetta 1/2 (Wiiu)

bayonetta-2-logo

I had to add this game to my favorites because it was a fun experience! Action packed, good story, fun characters to deal with and well worth the wait! Both games in the series are really great and I am hoping for a part 3!

4. Mario Kart 8 (Wiiu)

Logo_EN_-_Mario_Kart_8

This game ALMOST MADE NUMBER 1 on my list.. However I gave it some more thought and while it was for sure the MOST PLAYED GAME this year for me it only made it to 5 because of my own interest “which will be explained”. However it’s a great game..and was damned near close to 1!

3.Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (PS3)

ps3case-front

My love for this series is endless. While it didn’t get much reception from many others. This game just made me happy!I loved the story, gameplay, exploration and pretty much everything about it! While mirror of Fate is still probably my favorite in the Series. This game really didn’t disappoint me at all and I loved how it played!

2.The Secret World (PC)

tswlogoprimaryrgb

This is a game I will never finish but is a game that I love love love to play. While it was released in 2012 the game still today gets some cool updates “that are free”. The game you pay for once and you play it for “Free”! It’s open world fun! The stories are amazing and capture my LOVE For horror/scifi/mystery!

1. WatchDogs (WIIu)

watchdogs-us-esrb-wiiujpg-e95449e

This game is just amazing! While it was released only recently for Wiiu it is flawless! The online is to much fun, the story is driving, and the gameplay is really everything I hoped it would be!

With the holidays in full swing and everyone and “there mothers!” Coming up with list of games you should and Shouldn’t BUY OUR CHILDREN this year. I have come to terms with something a little more easy to understand. Facts you should know about the stuff you are buying for your children!

Now all this information is coming from ME! A adult that was a kid during the 90’s so chances are I have seen and heard about almost every Violent, sexual, or other wise ADULT contented video game known to be released to date. I still play video games and really the stuff I played as a kid looks otherwise silly by comparison to some of the stuff they are releasing today! So here are some tips to help EVERYONE out when buying a video game for you child. 🙂

Tip 1.

First and foremost I think the biggest problem Shoppers have is that most people forget that they have a mouth. Communication is the mother of all HELP FULL things to do when shopping for your child. Ask the local sales man if the game is right for the child given the age. Ask Neigbhors if they know anything about the game. ASK THE FREAK DELI CLERK… Communicate your ideas and let it be known that you are buying a game for a child of age 1-16 and pull as much information about the game as you can out of it.

Best EXAMPLE: A man is going to buy his son a game titled Skylanders. His son is 8 years old and the man knows NOTHING about the game. The first thing a person can do in said situation is communicate with the sales men “who should be informed” about what exactly he is buying. Asking questions like “what does the game involve? Is it violent? Does it have any type of content that would offend me?” Perfectly normal questions that really you can relate to any forum of Media. Would you let your child watch CNN without known what was being presented? Probably not so really .. ask ask ask

Tip 2.

Reading!! READ! READ! READ! I don’t know how many times I have seen someone hold a box and still have no clue what the heck was being held at hand. Really it makes me laugh! The back of every video game box has a very brief explanation of the video game. Some back story! Also ..and it shocks the heck out of me.. but some people don’t even notice that the back of the box  in the same spot ON EVERY SINGLE BOX.. IS a Label titled ESRB..

esrb_ratings

I think even most Gamestops have a GIANT POSTER.. that gives this information. It’s a rating system and it explains exactly what is in the game. if it labeled M, A, RP, OR RARELY K-A… Chances are you shouldn’t buy it for your 9 year old. However who am I to really say .. some kids are more mature than others but really … that’s a judgment call and you will sort it out.

NOW I SHOULD also point out that while we live in a modern setting today.. It is also important to note THAT THE ESRB DOESN’T NOT control the content you can DOWNLOAD! Many full games today can be downloaded onto the system themselves and many of your children KNOW THIS! So while you might think I DIDN’T BUY HIM/HER THAT! You probably did buy him/her the Xbox box points, or Sony points…or EVEN ESHOP Cards.. that allowed the child to download the game ONLINE.

Most games you download online will tell you before you CLICK NEXT.. This game HAS ADULT CONTENT! again…READ!! While you might think nothing of it now chances are the game has a rating system on it and they tell you about it BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD THE GAME!

Tip 3.

Research is pretty much PARENTING! Most parents are so stuck on work, or other things that they don’t have the time to do the research. Can’t be bothered with crap like that.. and really just want to make sue and john happy! So My suggestion to you is this.. Take 5 minutes… BEFORE BED…AND REVIEW SOME VIDEO GAME WEB SITES… most web sites “this one included” have a search bar! All you need to do is Search the title of the game “hell google it!” and chances are you will find something on it. IF READING IS FAR TO TIME CONSUMING! We have alternatives! YOUTUBE.COM IS YOUR FRIEND! Chances are if it’s a new… title someone on youtube has reviewed it! If it be some random guy or a website like IGN.COM or GameTrailers.com… Chances are someone has said something about the game. It normally is a short review…KEEP IN MIND YOUR LOOKING FOR REVIEWS… NOT LET’S PLAYS…those are much longer.. and while yes they can be entertaining..chances are your going to watch the entire game with someone commenting about it.. and still have no clue what is going on..

REGARDLESS RESEARCH IS KEY! Again we are talking about MEDIA! Some of it is for children ..some is for adults…and really that is just the time we live in now..it’s 2014.. not 1990… i hope you all enjoy your Holidays..and i HOPE this was informative..
