BOTW-Share_iconSo before I start this I think a brief bit of history should be given. I have in the past Finished Most of the The Legend of Zelda games which include (The Legend of Zelda, Link, A Link to the past, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Twlight Princess, and A Link Between worlds) Any that I haven’t named I am still working on currently. I have never been a fan of open world games and have even gone on the record to say I HATE OPEN World games. So this being my prospective of this title I was very weary going into it. Yet here we go…lets see what I thought.

339cdeff6ec52c0c-600x400

To start off this is the first Zelda game I have played in awhile that really had no guide to it. You wake up and you get going for the most part. No real directions are given as to what place you should go or how you should go about playing the game. This is also the first Zelda game that I can remember in awhile that you didn’t get the sword or shield in the first 10 minutes of the game. Cause it’s open world (very much like Zelda 1) you are pretty much given the story that you have been asleep for 100 years.. Zelda needs your help.. and you need to find your memories to figure pretty much everything out. No Navi, No Midna, No real help….short of the nice people of Hyrule.

Now while I did finish the story to this game I am 100% sure that I didn’t find everything the game has to offer. I knew from exploring that I had to defeat the 4 Guardians and that the world was open to explore and without bounds. Which is why it took me so long to just get past the story.  I knew that from playing the other Zelda games that a Master Sword was probably in a forest some place. That a Master shield had to be around to go with it and that Link would also acquire different outfits to get past different areas. That much is Common with every Zelda series. However the amount of exploring this game opens up for you is just OVERWHELMING.

One of the main reasons I don’t really do well with open world games is because I get lost very quickly. However getting lost in this game is pretty much how you find everything. It places into your hands the thought of HEY .. what’s over that mountain or what’s in that cave and lets you explore. Personally I both love and hate that idea. I love it because if you think about something chances are you can do it. I hate it because if you just want to get from point A to point B chances are you will have to deal with some nonsense in between that.

It’s a beautiful game without question and has all the things I personally want out of a Zelda game. Puzzles, Interesting Monsters, Interesting mythology, Fun story telling, Items to help me get in and out of places and above all HOURS UPON HOURS of replay ability. Yet for the most part the one thing I noticed that was missing was lack of Direction. I know at least 4 people who are currently or who have already finished this game. Every person has a different story to tell as to how they managed to finish it and what they needed to do TO DO IT. Personally I think that is awesome because it becomes a experience. It makes for great conversation and keeps the game mysterious while maintaining a basic concept for what is happening.

Again the game is beautiful and full of things for you to explore and do. The world is very much alive and something is constantly happening around you at different times. While I will say I would have much rather it been a linear adventure much like A Link Between worlds with some exploring on the side I find this game to be a very new and very modern way of exploring the game world. Who doesn’t want to run around Hyrule without bounds after all?

Now in terms of game play the game has a really easy setup. You get health from eating/cooking combined Items. Yes you can still gather faeries and yes they still do what they always have done but for the most part you want to keep the food to up your hearts. The game puts a emphasis on gather hearts and gathering Stamina upgrades. All Zelda games have had in the past the heart meter and while the Stamina gauge is new it also limits what you can explore. Without the correct amount of Stamina you aren’t climbing some mountains or gliding to some areas. So in a very clever way of gathering that you are required to gather orbs from Shrine locations all over Hyrule. From what I understand the game has over 100 Shrines. You are required to have 4 orbs per heart and or Stamina Upgrade.

To sum it all up simply If you find a shrine you deal with a small puzzle and or Enemy to get the orbs. Again the game emphasis or exploring to get those heart and Stamina upgrades.  You will run into Forest, Deserts, Water temples (I HATE THOSE in every Zelda), and Caves. Overall the game never leaves you bored with things to do and to explore.  It does have a fast travel system that allows you to teleport from one Shrine to another and this time around you can gather mounts to run around the world if you like as well. Again the game is an experience because of all the things it allows you to do while maintain the basic structure of a Legend of Zelda Adventure.

Personally for my money I am happy I purchased it and still want to explore more of that world. Like I said I am 100% sure I didn’t find EVERYTHING just…yet.. and yes it has DLC…but we will get to that another day…maybe….

Mortal Kombat X_20150414171352

The Finally part to my review of Mortal Kombat X took a bit longer because of the nature of the beast! Anything ONLINE normally takes me a bit longer to write about because so much really goes into it. Plus I wanted to add the little details about the game I didn’t get to earlier. So let’s just start!

Mortal Kombat X_20150413105719

Booting up the game you are sent to make the decision on which FACTION you choose. Your Faction is based on the concept that your joining a group ONLINE to build up points and Earn currency and bragging RIGHTS. The game has 5 Factions to choose from Lin Kuei, Black Dragon, White Lotus, Special Forces, and Brotherhood of Shadow.MKXFACTIONS

So over all 2 Good, 2 bad, and 1 sort of neutral? The grouping really doesn’t change much to the actual game short of the Online points you can POSSIBLY build up. The thing to be noted is that everything you do in the game goes towards that ONLINE group. So for example if you join the “White Lotus (like me)” Every Fatality, Brutality, Online Faction Kill, win, lose and even the single player mode you do builds towards advancing that group. At the end of the week the decision is made as to which SINGLE group wins and based on that you build up points to advance.

InvasionMKX

Now during the course of the week each group will be given a chance to fight back at A INVASION. Each Invasion is a chance for the groups to pool to do three things. Fight a INVASION BOSS, INVASION TOWER, and a INVASION ASSASSIN. The boss works in that it’s a group effort. YOU CAN NO NOT KILL THE BOSS ON YOUR OWN. It’s life bar is based on the pooling of groups effort. Invasion tower pretty much is exactly what it sounds like. You fight the invasions enemies in a tower constructed to that INVASION. The Invasion Assassin can pop up at any time during a single player match on any of the towers. It’s sort of tricky to get it..but completely all three can be done in a 24 hour period.

Now let me take a step back and explain that before each battle “no matter the mode” you will choose a character from 1 of 23 characters “Not Counting DLC”.

Mortal Kombat X_20150429080130

Each Character after choosing him/her has 3 variations to that 1. Each Variation has it’s own fighting style to it. Basic moves, Special Moves, and combos are all changed based on how you choose it. This also makes picking a character online sort of open to different concepts unlike previous games. If you knew you could fight well against one character that character now has the open option to change based on the 3 variations.

Honestly it’s built well into the social aspect of the game. It keeps each week open to something and adds to re playability. It’s fun and has a ton of content that even after 3 weeks I have yet to find all of. Not to count that the game is currently adding new stuff each week. It’s worth every penny spent and is fun!

Sugar! Lots was reveled yesterday on the topic of many games at the E3 Press Conference..  To start the day off Sony showed a very cool gameplay video of MORTAL KOMBAT X!! Which if you ask me was well worth the wait! As the day progressed to follow the names of 3 new characters was revealed but very little is still known about any of them.. outside of the two returning characters sub-zero and Scorpion these are the new one’s shown..

Kotal Kahn

Kotal Khan “who at this point really nothing is known about him short of the fact he is probably related to Shao Khan in some way..”

Cassie Cage

Cassie Cage “Whom is the Daughter of Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage” Thought that was adorable!

D'vohar

D’Vorah “who at this point is just really known as a bug lady..considered this because she is crawling with bugs!”

mortal-kombat-x-e3-select-screen-dvorah-vs-ferra-torr

and last but not least.. we have Ferra/Torr “the tiny one up top is Ferra who is assumed to be the brains.. and Torr is assumed to be the big guy on the bottom..” CUTEST CHARACTERS IN MORTAL KOMBAT HISTORY if you ask me!

Now of course they showed a few videos from the sony press confrence..some other interviews had been cast out also.. you can search it on youtube.. today I expect more gameplay videos will come up… but I am waiting to see what happens with that.. the game so far has a very brutal, dark, and very gory tone to it… really looking forward to seeing what will happen with this!

On other stories later on in the afternoon NINTENDO released it’s press conference showing several other games being released..

2557801-screen+shot+2014-06-10+at+9.22.55+am

Nintendo Revealed lots of games yesterday which most of em got release dates assumed for 2015. Probably the biggest to show for it all was The LEGEND OF ZELDA…Which according to some sources..MIGHT be the first Zelda game to star someone who is either a Genderless LINK…or Not Link at all… Could be a very interesting spin on the series which really at this point people are calling it Skyrim/Zelda.. Only time will tell and really details should come into focus more today…

Aside from that they showed off a new Yoshi Game that looks really really FUN “YAY for being a Yoshi fan!”..they showed off a cool mario MAKER game..that allows you to create super mario stages both old and new…A very brief tale about the new Star Fox was shown…which also …really cool… and details about this…

amiiboimg03e3formediadistro2

Amiibo which according to what I understand act as Skylander type characters that can transfer to different games..which include Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Brothers and future titles… From the reports they will also be releasing a platform that will allow the 3DS to use these characters for games on that as well.. Not much is really known other than they act as glorified Memory Cards for your games to add details to … said titles…  We will see how this continues to develop

Moving on from that.. Several  other games had been announced which included a New Tomb Raider, Assassins Creed, Uncharted 4, and a very interesting looking battlefield game that really… kinda caught my eye..which really while I hate most military based games…this one looks pretty cool… More to write about..later..

ps3case-front

So this has been a long time coming and I am very excited to write about my review on what is to be the THIRD part of a trilogy that has to be one of my favorite stories ever told. SO HERE WE GO!

clos2amazon

Now before I BEGIN I should note that I did pre-order this from Amazon.com and Received it the day it was released. I haven’t uploaded the DLC yet but really I think it’s just a trivial “fan” gift really.. I look forward to uploading it soon just wanted to finish the game first before writing about it.. or doing anything to it..so everything that is happening in this review is happening unaltered and so on…

Lords of shadow 1

Ok so this game continues exactly from the moment the last one ended. It begins from the same starting point as the DEMO did. Really not much was altered from that. I played the game on “Normal” difficulty which was hard enough to begin with. Will I go back and play it on a harder setting? Maybe? Really this entire series just grabs the hell out of me so really saying I will probably go back and play the game a million times will probably be an understatement considering this game is at this point probably going to be my favorite game of 2014…but we will see what happens in December.. but so far..it’s looking that way..

Lords of shadow 2

Anyway .. Yea the game takes place right after Castlevania Lords Of Shadow and does a good job of putting the player up to speed with what has happened. So even if you didn’t finish Lords of Shadow and Mirror of Fate it gives a run down at the start of the game of what events have accord without giving away to much detail about what is to come from the game. Really it’s a pretty straight forward story and while my gf has told me the story was kinda hard to comprehend because so much was going on. Really I had no problem getting it ” However I was really focused on all the little details that went with it” Which the game is FULL of details from picking up Scrolls which give insight to the backgrounds of the Monster, Lore, and Heroes of the game. It has a ton of artwork and really does a good job of gifting the player for exploring.

Lords of shadow 3

Ok so what has changed? To begin with the over all game play of the game hasn’t changed that much in terms of Control. You still have your standard attack, wide attack, jump attacks and so on. Really as you go on the game gets easier as you pick up more power ups and weapons to help you. Personally the Void sword is the coolest of the weapons I think because it is meant to not only save your life but hurt your enemies which helps! You have several tree Branches of upgrading your weapons this time also.  This will allow you to pull off better combos, and attacks. Over all it works well and uses a point system that you can access in the menu at any time. It doesn’t force you to upgrade your weapons but doing so really does make the character attacks more fluid and easier to handle.

The biggest change to the game is the Camera! Which is a BIGGGG plus compared to Lords Of Shadow 1. This time it’s all free third person point of view. No Chapter selects, or dialog at the begin of each stage because the game flows with the story rather then cutting it up into parts. This time it’s all open world and free to search around. Very rarely does the camera get fixed but at times when really nothing is really around to search. YOU WILL BE SEARCHING ALSO.. Finding power ups and upgrades are vital! Over all the game design is well enough that having a good mind and common sense will really treat you to wanting to find everything the game needs you to find. So you will not be lost but you will want to return to some spots to use powers you didn’t previously have. Now this game doesn’t require you to go back and forth but if you want to find everything and give that extra step for power ups you are granted the ability to.

Like the Previous game the artwork is stunning and the soundtrack is on point as well. Personally I have no complaints about the design of the game at all. It’s dark, gothic, and very much what you would expect from a Castlevania game. The gameplay this time around also does add an element of stealth that really isn’t as bad as people say it is. However even on “Normal” it’s challenging but not in the slightest bit frustrating for a person who has EXPERIENCED Stealth games before. It’s over all a different element to the game that really some will enjoy and of course some will complain about.

Over all this game is probably the most enjoyable part of the story I would say. Giving really good story telling with fun and challenging game play. Your not going to find everything the first time around so the game play really does encourage you to go back and play it over and over. The design of the characters are overwhelmingly cool. I don’t want to spoil anything but it’s really a good conclusion to the series. Really I am kinda sad that it’s all said and done now…
