As an impulse I loaded up a link to the past which I have played at least 1000 times in my life on SNES. The game is flawless but what made it different on switch? Here…we..go..

To begin with if you haven’t already download the SNES online emulator for switch. If you have a Nintendo membership it’s already free for you to download so there’s no reason for you not to download it. It comes with a huge list of games one of them being a link to the past.

The game is so simple by design that it’s become the standard for adventure gameplay. From the very beginning it introduces the directional D pad as a movement for your character “name whatever you like but known as many as Link”. As you begin with just some simple text you find yourself getting up out of bed and into the rain.

The pacing is what is key to this game. You learn thru action. Can you lift a bush? Yes you can. Can you fall in a hole without dying? Yes you can! Can you avenge your uncle!? YES YOU CAN!!

Everything you need to know is presented in a simple text brought on by questions brought on by details in story telling and environment. If you think it chances are you can do it now or later on down the line.

The world is yours to explore and it rewards you for doing it. Even to this day I’m finding new stuff and the game was released in 91! Also it’s FREE!! IF!! You have a Nintendo Membership so why the hell wouldn’t you at the very least try it out!?
